2025 OWLFLY PHOTO CONTEST

Take a photo with an Owlfly field guide and enter for a chance to win $150!

How to Enter:

  1. Take a photo of a live insect next to the correct page of an Owlfly field guide.

  2. Post the photo on social media and correctly identify the insect in the description. Include the hashtag #2025OwlflyPhoto.

  3. To ensure the submission is recorded, send an email to ckratzer@OwlflyLLC.com with the subject line "2025 Owlfly Photo Contest" and the URL of your post.

Each participant may submit as many photos as they like before the contest deadline on 9/14/2025.The contest winner will be determined by a public vote, which will be shared on social media. The vote will begin on 9/15/2025 and end on 10/15/2025. The winner will be announced on 10/16/2025. Good luck!

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Any outdoor activity carries some amount of risk. By participating in this contest, you agree to (1) practice responsible wildlife and wilderness safety, and (2) participate at your own risk.

  2. Any photo that risks bodily harm will be disqualified. For example, you SHOULD NOT hold a book up to a large active wasp nest without proper PPE and training.

  3. The subject of the photo must be alive and unharmed at the time the photo is taken.

  4. The subject of the photo must be correctly identified by the participant.

  5. Only the field guides The Social Wasps of North America or The Cicadas of North America are eligible for this contest.

  6. By participating in this contest, you agree to give Owlfly LLC permission to use your photo in marketing materials (including the newsletter and the website).

  7. The field guide author may submit as many photos as she likes, but she is not eligible to win the contest.

  8. The contest winner will be given a choice between a mailed check or store credit. Only store credit is available for participants outside of the United States.

  9. Due to shipping restrictions, participants may only be located in one of the following countries: US, Canada, Mexico, UK, or Australia.
